In a popular location, this event attracts some of the best Cross Country Runners in the North East. Watched on by her family, Trinity lined up as the sole Aycliffe runner against the other U11’s. Showing a confident approach Trinity ran an exceptional race over the 1.2KM course coming home with a fantastic time of 4:57. This debut season has been remarkable. Well done Trinity.
In other news, one of our Juniors, Nicole Anderson, has been competing in the North East Cyclo-cross League (NECCL) – taking part in the final NECCL race of the season at Aycliffe’s Sports Complex. One of the toughest courses on the calendar, Nicole started mid pack but quickly worked through to the leader, over-taking on a technical corner and opened up a 20 second gap. Showing true fighting sprit she maintained this position to take 1st place in the girl’s category and came 4th overall. Brilliant work Nicole, well done.
Indoor Athletics – Both Abbie Robinson and Persephone-May Risbey taking part and representing Aycliffe in the second fixture for Blyth’s Sports Hall series. Abbie, taking so much lessons from the first meeting, was able to step up the grade system, taking personal bests in all of her events. 64m Sprint 0.4 sec quicker, Endurance 2.4 secs quicker, Vertical Jump 6cm higher, Standing Long Jump an impressive 15cm longer, Chest Push 50cm further! Well done Abbie. Persephone-May, making her Blyth debut, performed magnificently in all her events. In a tough age category she was able to come away with solid results and give herself a firm foothold in a sports hall competition. Notably the vertical jump. Must be all that squat training….well done Persephone.
