Newton Aycliffe Football Club can confirm that head coach Colin Stromsoy has parted ways with the club by mutual consent.
The agreement was reached following discussions between both parties that a change in approach was best after the defeat to West Allotment Celtic at the Beaumont Landscapes Stadium on Saturday.
Colin joined the club in January 2019 and guided the team to victory in his first game against West Auckland Town before helping the club ensure its Division One status in 14th place.
Colin managed the club during the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic during both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns and guided the club to fifth place on both occasions before each season was brought to a premature end.
Colin has played a huge part in changing the dynamic of the football club and earned plaudits for both NAFC’s brand of football and professionalism throughout the club.
Colin leaves with the club seventh in the Ebac Northern League Division One table.
Upon stepping away from the club Colin has issued a statement saying: “I’d like to thank everyone at the football club during my time, Allan and the committee and all of the staff; Mark, Scott, Jack and Tony who have been excellent throughout.
“I’d also like to thank all of the players, past and present, and the fans for their efforts. It’s been a team effort getting the success we have had in improving the club the way we have and I will take good memories away with me.”
NAFC would like to place on record its thanks to Colin for his hard work and efforts during his time with the club and wish him well in his future endeavours.
Aycliffe return to action on Friday night with a visit to Whickham. That game will be followed on Saturday 20 November with a local derby when Bishop Auckland visit the Beaumont Landscapes Stadium. Kick off is 3pm.
