Last week pupils at Aycliffe Village Primary School held a Harvest Crafts Morning which was a great way to end the half-term.
Reception class really enjoyed making paper wreaths and scarecrows. Toby, in Year 1 rated the activities 20/10!
They had been making pumpkin prints, autumn wreaths and yummy carrot and coriander soup. Leaf rubbings, drawing and hedgehog weaving were the activities in Year 2. They thought it was amazing. “I enjoyed drawing hedgehogs,” said Freddie.
In Year 3 the children loved paper weaving and making stained glass windows.
Phoebe, in Year 4, liked working with all the autumn colours as she made Harvest cards and decorated stones. Joshua said, “I really liked the day off real work. I loved the drawing work.”
Year 5 made light and fluffy bread and a wonderful vegetable soup. Oliver described the soup as his dream food and Jasmine thought it had been a lovely creative day. Cross stitch pictures were also created by the pupils in Year 4.
Brandon said, “It was amazing how they turned out.”
Following on from these creative activities the children walked to St Andrew’s Church for a Harvest Festival Service led by Reverend Ann.
Mrs. Adamson, the Head Teacher, said that she had enjoyed seeing the children being creative and enjoying all their activities.
