Brian Hall

It is a sad moment in Newton Aycliffe history as we say goodbye to a true Newtonian, Brian Hall. It is with a heavy heart I write this on behalf of Labour members across the town but to boil down his contribution to our home to just his time as a big Labour man would be to understate the achievements of a life lived fully and a life lived well. Throughout his tenure as a councillor Brian achieved much for our home and dedicated himself fully to the town and for that service. I’m sure everyone who had the privilege of working with him would agree, his qualities of loyalty and integrity shone through in every aspect of his dedication not only to Labour but to the people he called neighbours and, most importantly, to our fantastic town he called home.
From town Mayor from 2007 – 2008 to his role as chair of the recreation committee, his dedication to public service was unquestioned and evident, as council officers have said, Brian was very well liked and respected by all the staff at the council and he was always incredibly supportive, particularly of the staff working in the sports and golf complex whilst Chair of the committee. Brian dedicated many years to our home and will be remembered as a true servant of Newton Aycliffe.
Brian was also a well-known and well-liked stalwart of our town, building a life here with his wife Thelma. Owning several businesses on the town to running Labour clubs for the community. We have lost an incredible man who will be hard to replace but, in his memory, I am certain there will be others to help carry his spirit of loyalty, dedication, integrity and sense of duty forward for future generations. As an example, to us all, on making our town a better place to live.
The funeral for Brian will be held on Wednesday 13th October at 10.45am in St. Clare’s followed by cremation at 11.30am, friends have been asked to meet at the church.
On behalf of the Aycliffe Branch Labour Party and his friends,
