Sunday saw the continuation of Woodham Academy’s sustained efforts to raise money for The Teenage Cancer Trust. A group of students participated in the Race for Life in Darlington where they completed a 5k cross country track. Members of the local community and Woodham staff members have raised just over £500; this is in addition to the three hour bootcamp which took place in November.

A Woodham staff member said the event was overwhelming as the girls respected how important it was. One student stated, “Crossing the line gave me an enormous sense of accomplishment. What a wonderful event for a great cause.” The girls were motivated more by the emotional stories each participant shared; these were displayed on the backs of people’s t-shirts and reminded everyone why they were there.
