Round 5 at Rowrah.
Last weekend Seb was racing up at Rowrah in round 5 of the championship, back to the random grids and we took the opportunity to try the new kart.
Heat 1: Seb started 4th on the grid of drivers. Great start from him, settled straight into the race setting consistent lap times. Came home in 1st place with the fastest lap time of 52.16s.
Heat 2: Seb starts 7th with a lot of work to do from the back. He quickly settled into the race taking overtaking opportunities when he could. Finished the race 1st with a quick lap time of 51.74s.
Heat 3: Starts pole, again settles into the race and led quickly, but then on lap 7, with a big lead he decided to try and brake later into the corner, disaster, and he spun off, he tried something new but had learnt not to do that again, but then he said “I just wanted to try to see if it would work”. Unfortunately he finished last by the time his kart was pulled out. He never gave up, put his foot down and still got the fastest lap in heat 3.51.98s.
The Final: This sees him start in P2 because of the daredevil incident in heat 3.
So, the race starts, into the first corner side by side with another driver, the determination of his shows through, he wasn’t backing off, he settles down into the race soon taking the lead. Towards the end of the race the P2 and P3 started to gain on him but held on to take the win, just missed out in the fastest lap in the final.
We would like to personally thank Nigel Horner at HRS Engines for the power this weekend, Craig and Callum at Be Inspired Gyms for his PT sessions. Thanks also to Stuart Thompson for the fuel for this weekend’s race.
**Ammended results in the previous race at Hooton Park, Seb was promoted to P3 and 2nd in the U10s due to a driver being disqualified.
We’re heading to Hooton Park this weekend for the Gold Cup. The next round of the Micromax championship is at Teesside in September.
