The annual Fayre was very successful with large crowds supporting the event. There were numerous attractive stalls all trying their hardest to extract money from visitors.
The home-made Cake Stall sold out as usual in very quick time and Bacon Butties at only £1.25p were very popular.
The Church members work very hard to make this a good money raising event, devoting hours in preparing items for the stalls and organising this popular occasion in the church calendar.
Our Parish Church faces some serious expense in repairing the roof and funds from all sources are necesary to maintain the services provided by this popular town centre venue which in addition to worship is being used regularly for a number of community activities. St. Clare’s Church plays a big part in the life of our town. It enjoys a strong presence in the heart of the centre of Newton Aycliffe. The War Memorial stands proudly outside along with a statue to the “Aycliffe Angels”. Hopefully the townspeople will support the church in with its essential repairs.
