Greenfield Arts have led an exciting collaboration with Shildon Town Council to celebrate community spirit and the many unsung heroes of Shildon.

Artist Paul Theo Murray and Katy Milne, Creative Director at Greenfield Arts, were delighted to share the final aratwork in an extended project to commemorate the spirit of VE Day. Pop up artwork and an art installation formed part of the celebrations and a film produced by Greenfield Arts illustrated the community collaboration and journey that shared the inspirations and memories of the wonderful people of Shildon. The artwork will tour across spaces in Shildon including Holly Lodge Care Home and Redworth Care Home and the Shildon Institute.

Artist Paul Theo Murray was commissioned to design and create inspiring boxes that encouraged people to recall memories of people and places and reflected acts of kindness and community spirit. It was lovely to see the artwork come together to be enjoyed by the community and be a part of the final celebrations organised by Shildon Town Council.

Thank you to all involved in the project, a final book is being created to share the journey and you can enjoy our film by visiting Greenfield Arts (vimeo.com).

Shout About Shildon is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the project benefits from a valuable partnership with Shildon Town Council. “There is so much to shout about in Shildon. What a fantastic community with a positive spirit and generous nature that make amazing things happen” said Katy Milne.
