Newton Aycliffe based automotive component manufacturer, Gestamp, donated £1000 and hundreds of re-usable water bottles to local secondary school, Woodham Academy, to help with the current Covid-19 situation.
Gestamp supply most major car manufacturers and employ 1200 people from the local area. Mr Brian Rees, Human Resources Manager for Gestamp, said, “As a business it has been a tough year, but we read about Marcus Rashford’s initiative and the government turnaround on providing free school meals, and we still wanted to help the local community”.
Mrs Sarah Dickinson, Deputy Headteacher at Woodham Academy, said, “It’s been a tough year for schools and families in the community and this contribution from Gestamp is greatly appreciated and will help students in these difficult times”.
