Newton News received numerous telephone calls this week regarding Mrs Irene Hewitson and her interview on TV and her stance on the Covid-19 pandemic.
We contacted the Town Council to obtain a comment for our readers:
“Mrs Irene Hewitson was expressing a personal opinion. She was speaking as a private individual and not in her role as a councillor and member of Great Aycliffe Town Council.
Great Aycliffe Town Council does not agree with Councillor Hewitson’s views regarding Covid-19 and does not endorse her actions.”
