NAFC U13s Whites 5 v Wallsend Green 4
NAFC U13s Whites played Wallsend Green on Sunday 23rd August. Aycliffe came flying out of the traps playing some really good football and could have been in the lead with a Niall header which went just wide after a good flowing move.
Wallsend then hit us on the break and scored the opening goal and then added a second, playing some really good football and started getting into the game. We then pulled one back from a Logan cross, which ended up in the back of the net after a deflection. We had a chance to level the game with a Niall shot which was well saved, Wallsend counter attacked and scored again to make it 3-1 just before half time.
In the second third, in our opinion, it was Aycliffe’s best performance in an 11 a side game so far. We won a penalty which unfortunately Niall hit the post and rebounded away. A Brad corner was met by Tyler in the air to make it 3-2. We were then awarded another penalty which Tyler stepped up and put into the corner to make it 3-3. Another free flowing move saw us go 4-3 in front with some great feet by Tyler and a great chip over the keeper to make it 4-3. We then added a fifth with a neat through ball by Aidan to Niall who ran on and finished into the corner to make it 5-3 heading into the final third.
It was a much quieter final third where Aycliffe defended really well. Wallsend did add a 4th to make it 5-4, but after that Aycliffe defended really well and could have added further goals but there were some excellent saves.
Another excellent performance from the boys against a very good side. We felt we played some excellent football at times and dominated the majority of the game, which was excellent to watch. Another exciting 5-4 game too!
