The Hammers and Pincers are hosting Leeds band The Dunwells on Sunday 20 September, 3-5pm in their fantastic outdoor space.
The Dunwells are two brothers, Joe and Dave, from Leeds who are an amazing live band. They have supported acts such as Bryan Adams, Mumford & Sons and are currently on tour with Scouting for Girls, hopefully coming to Durham Cathedral in October. When lockdown started back in March they decided that, as they couldn’t play live music, they would put on a daily live show on YouTube and Facebook for an hour every evening at 6 pm from their respective homes. They quickly grew a large Facebook group called The Army of Friends who watched the show each day and chatted with each other via the comments. This proved to be a great support group during what was a really dark period in a lot of people’s lives, having a daily dose of music, banter and laughter to look forward to. They even wrote a song called Army of Friends about the pandemic and our fantastic NHS heroes and made a video to go along with it including a lot of the people from The Army of Friends group. They did 100 of these daily live shows and now still do three live shows a week, two of which are from their studio in Leeds city centre.
As it has been so difficult to play live music and go to gigs this should be a great afternoon event, up close and personal as there are limited tickets available, due to social distancing, in the large outside area at The Hammers. You can get tickets via their web site www.thedunwells.com and you can listen to their music via their social media and YouTube. We look forward to seeing plenty of local people there.
