Groups of students at Greenfield Community College have been connecting with Greenfield Arts as part of an exciting creative project. Young volunteers, both the Newshounds team and the Student Leaders, have had the opportunity to meet up online with Creative Director Katy Milne and filmmaker Laura Degnan
The project will bring together the thoughts and ideas of the students over recent times as they reflect upon their personal experiences. The students have been sharing what they have learned and the unexpected things they have noticed during this time and how they might use this in a positive way in the future.
Professional filmmaker Laura Degnan will work with the students to bring together a film that can be shared with other students as a stimulus to help make sense of recent times and how this may impact and develop their learning in the future. The film will act as a creative prompt for students across the school to express themselves. It will be accompanied by a lesson plan full of creative ways to explore ideas and encourage young people to express themselves.
Greenfield Community College are committed to encouraging and developing a strong student voice within their school. They recently achieved runner-up in a national student voice awards where the Newshounds and Student Leaders were praised for their contributions by the judges, here is just one of the positive comments, “The sheer scale of projects and promoting student voice here was arguably the most impressive feature”.
