County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is looking for enthusiastic people to join a new team of ‘Volunteer Response Porters’.
Associate director of nursing, Jason Cram, explains, “We have over 300 volunteers working in all kinds of roles, helping support the delivery of the best possible patient care and experience. They’re an invaluable part of our team, providing better outcomes for patients and help keep our services running smoothly.
“Our Volunteer Response Porters will be based at either Darlington Memorial Hospital or University Hospital of North Durham undertaking various responsibilities. We anticipate they’ll quickly become essential in the day to day business of running our busy hospitals. Becoming a Volunteer Response Porter will be an excellent way to meet new people and gain experience of working within an NHS environment.
“There are only two criteria for applying – you need to be over 18 and able to provide two references. Of course, you’ll also be of good character and have a caring nature.”
The Trust is holding two open sessions for anyone interested to come along and find out more, without obligation:
