ACORN Community Association, funded by the Big Lottery Community Fund, stormed the Gala Theatre in Durham, to attend the Panto performance of ALADDIN last week.
The ACORN Community group made their 9th annual pilgrimage to the Gala, taking 70 excited children, parents and grandparents to the popular show, which features characters, colour and comedy in a fabulously funny roller-coaster of hilarity.
People from all over Newton Aycliffe were thrilled to come along with the folks from ACORN who meet on the second Thursday of the month at the Phoenix Club to meet friends, have a coffee and plan leisure activities and excursions.
Our next meeting is on 13th February and will showcase the work being carried out by the Auckland Project.
Plans are now coming together for our annual Petting Zoo event, which will be held in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on 18th April and will feature a minimum of three petting zoos to enthral the children, Prof Nincompoop, face painting and an inflatable, to burn some energy off, plus a variety of tombola and animal related tables.
Please contact Ken if you would like to promote your own community group or for a fundraising table.
