Community Learning – Fundraising Event for PKD

To celebrate the launch of their new, Community Learning programmes and the hosting of a fund-raiser for their nominated charity, Isobel Currie Director of Communicators Training held a Healthy Lifestyle Coffee/Tea Party at the Communicators Learning Centre – located in the Technology Court on the Newton Aycliffe Business Park.

This free Community Learning Programme is called My Future Matters. It has been designed to help and support individuals who are coping with change in their life and finding it hard to break down barriers to moving on in their future.

The charity being supported is dear to the centre’s heart. Polycystic Kidney Disease affects 12 million people worldwide and it is estimated that between 1 in every 400 to 2500 people has the disease which can affect women and men across all ethnic groups.

Communicators combined promoting this charity with the health and wellbeing elements of their Community Learning programme. All guests enjoyed a good range of healthy bites with their tea and coffee

Communicators have been providing high quality training opportunities for individuals and employers for the past 19 years. In October 2019 Communicators was successful with the award of a second Community Learning programme with Durham County Council. More than 80% of delegates on their community programmes last year progresses to learning leading to recognised qualifications with 20% going into employment and/or voluntary work.

Many, many learners have said that taking part meant their confidence grew, allowing them to break down barriers and taking back control of their lives, and gave them the confidence to move on to face other challenges along the way.

At the event past learners told their own, personal success stories, and employers who had taken on learners referred to them by Communicators validated the benefit of the training offer.

Courses will run weekly at the Centre in Newton Aycliffe from 9.30 – 3pm from Monday 18th November 2019.
