Paul Spellman (front right) from Newton Aycliffe, who went to St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School here in the town and then St. John’s in Bishop Auckland, was ordained to the Catholic Priesthood on Saturday 6th July.
The ordination took place at St. John the Baptist’s Cathedral, Norwich, where Paul was ordained alongside four other men.
Paul has spent the previous four years training at the Pontifical Beda College in Rome, from where he was ordained a Deacon in June last year.
The Diocese of East Anglia had a huge celebration for all those ordained and Paul is looking forward to moving into a parish in Cambridge from the beginning of September.
