Play Cafe volunteers are finalising plans for this summer’s pop up Café events which will take place across our town, during the school summer holiday. Play Cafe project supports families with children of school age who struggle financially during the long school holidays.
Without Breakfast Clubs and no access to Free School Meals, some families find it difficult to afford additional food. Working parents may have increased costs linked to child care arrangements. In summer holidays there is the extra cost of finding new uniforms, coats and shoes for the Autumn, as the children grow.
Plans start with an information event on Thursday 11 July, 1.00 – 2.00pm in the Big Club, Newton Aycliffe. Thanks to Big Club and Gary for use of a room. Families new to the project are particularly welcome. Schools and organisations who have received the project’s cards are invited to send a representative along, too.
If you want to know more about the support offered by the project, for yourself or for someone you know, come along to the event which is free of charge. Play Cafe is supported by GAMP Funding from our 7 County Councillors, Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club and County Durham Food Bank, Tesco and Big Club.
