Environmentally friendly printers, Newton Press of County Durham has been named as a regional finalist in the 2019 ‘Small Business Big Heart’ Awards in association with BusinessesForSale.com.
The judges chose Newton Press for serving the community for over 55 years with its free newspaper, involvement with numerous local organisations, community driven activities and specific fundraising actions – one of which was backing two much-needed MRI scanners for two local hospitals.
Rufus Bazley, Director of Marketing at BusinessesForSale.com says, “2019 was a record year for Small Business Big Heart entries so achieving regional finalist position is incredible. Newton Press is a genuine community-focussed family business and has been a founding partner in many local initiatives including Aycliffe Nature Park, the town war memorial, establishing a community radio station and aiding numerous local residents’ associations. Its on-going support of local charities and new business start-ups is amazing. I’d like to congratulate all the staff and wish them every success in the next and final round of judging.”
Stephen Gosnay, Key Account Manager at Newton Press says, “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted as regional finalist for this award. We do not expect any recognition for doing things that we have always just done. They are a part of our every day values and business ethics brought from our founder, the late Syd Howarth, who was awarded an MBE for his services to the community. It is a true honour to be shortlisted, we are very humbled by the recognition and the prize money will certainly be a great help to a local good cause.”
If Newton Press goes on to win the Small Business Big Heart Awards Gold prize it will receive £1,000 to donate to any good cause of its choice.
Newton Press is the Regional Finalist for the North East. In total there are 20 regional finalists across the country. The overall winner of the 2019 Small Business Big Heart Award in association with BusinessesForSale.com will be announced on 15th September.
