Year 5 girls from Woodham Burn Primary School became stars of the stage on Monday night.
On Monday 24th June, Year 5 girls joined other Year 5 girls from local schools and the seniors from Durham High School for Girls to take part in a performance of ‘Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat’ at Durham Gala Theatre. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat is a musical with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
It was the first time the girls had ever performed in a theatre and it was a packed audience! They had rehearsed the songs at school and then on Saturday 22nd June they joined the other girls, for the first time, to coordinate the performance.
They were all incredible and their teacher Ms Graham said “I am so very proud of each and every one of the children. They have worked hard all day Saturday and all day Monday before the evening performance, yet despite the fatigue pulled it out of the bag on the night”.
Mrs Lonsdale, from Durham High School for Girls, who had organised and choreographed the show, told all the girls how well they did when the curtain went down and how amazing they all were.
We hope to join her again next year for another spectacular show.
