The Bishop Auckland Fundraising Group of Marie Curie wants to publicly say a huge ‘Thank You’ to the people of South West Durham whose generosity has enabled the group to reach its target of raising £100,000 in the five years it has been in existence.
Monies have been raised in a variety of ways – from collections in supermarkets and local retail outlets to Themed Music Evenings, from Garden Open Days to Blooming Great Tea Parties and at each and every event the support from the local area has been tremendous.
To celebrate reaching this milestone, the Group were invited to visit the Marie Curie Hospice in Newcastle where they were given a tour of the facilities and were shown the therapies on offer, followed by a delicious afternoon tea.
The Group meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 1.30pm in the Community Fire Station on Watling Road and welcome new members.
The next fundraising event will take place on Sunday 9th June from 1 – 5pm when The Old Vicarage Gardens at High Etherley will be open to visitors.
Entrance £4/£1 and tea and delicious cakes will be available.
