Two football fans from HC-One’s St Clare’s Court in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham had their wish come true when the care home team organised for the pair to attend the Sunderland vs Coventry match on Saturday 13th April.
Joe Brazier, a Resident at St Clare’s Court was a Sunderland FC season ticket holder for many years, but he had not attended a match for some time due to his health. One of his three wishes was to see Sunderland play at the Stadium of Light again, Jay Malik, Wellbeing Coordinator at the home got straight to work to make Joe’s wish come true.
Ian Foggett, from Oomph! Out and About kindly offered transport to and from the football stadium on the day, which was greatly appreciated by St Clare’s Court.
On the day, Joe and fellow Resident and football fan, John Smith attended the Sunderland vs Coventry match. Joe was very emotional throughout the day, especially at half time when former Sunderland player, Lee Howey presented Joe with a signed football.
The final score was Sunderland 4, Coventry 5, although Joe said he was a little sad that Sunderland got beat he still had the most amazing day, he was very excited to tell everyone about it on their return to St Clare’s Court.
