Newton Aycliffe didn’t have a scheduled fixture on Saturday. However, the weather conditions meant that no games were played in the Ebac Northern League.
For Aycliffe it meant a training session giving new manager Colin Stromsoy a chance to work with his squad ahead of next Saturday’s home game against Sunderland RCA. That match will be followed by the quarter final of the League Cup when Whitley Bay will visit Moore Lane on Tuesday 12 February (KO 7:30pm).
Stromsoy has been busy strengthening the team with Alexander Barnes joining from Penrith last week and another signing expected, possibly before the RCA game. Meanwhile two Aycliffe players, Jermaine Metz and recent signing Gerard Richardson have both been selected for the English Universities Northern squad. Both players represent Northumbria University.
