Newton Aycliffe Town Centre Management and Aycliffe Radio kicked off this years Christmas Festivities with two live events last weekend.
The first took place in Newton Aycliffe town centre between 1.00pm and 5.00pm and featured popular local band “Groovy Street”, followed by “Harris Tweed Mystery Machine” and Cassandra giving a short tribute to Dua Lipa.
The event was compered by Professor Nincompoop, ably supported by Amy Harrison from Aycliffe Radio’s morning show.
To round the day off the M.A.D. Choir sang Christmas Carols while Santa and Mrs Claus handed out gifts to the children.
The town centre event was brought to you by the Aycliffe Town Centre Management
We were also pleased to welcome Liam Mellor who plays Wishee Washee and Carl Douglas who is Aladdin in this years pantomime at the Hippodrome in Darlington.
The Aycliffe Radio team then quickly headed down to the Xcel Centre to host the Xmas Live event.
The atmosphere was electric in the room as the three superb acts performed a tribute to their chosen artistes.
Compere Nathan Abbott warmed up the audience with dances and encouraged the children on to stage to perform and win prizes.
First up was local girl, Cassandra, who with her back up dancers, Emily and Francis from Infinity Dance School, performed as Dua Lipa. A superb performance which got the audience dancing, clapping and singing along.
Brandon Mazz performed his tribute to Bruno Mars, which was a brilliant rendition of the real thing.
Not only did Brandon have the moves he sounded authentic and moved around the auditorium intermingling with the audience.
Charlotte Hopley’s tribute to Katy Perry finished the night off with a bang, interacting with the children who were dancing around the front of the stage.
The event was a huge success and Aycliffe Radio will be planning more “Live” events in the future, watch Newton News for details.
Aycliffe Radio would like to record thanks to the fantastic Xcel Centre for the use of the venue; thank you to all those who attended the night and a special thank you to the event sponsors ROF59 and Honest John.
