The staff, residents and families of Rose Lodge care home have been uniting against dementia as the home held its own Memory Walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Participants completed ‘The Great Aycliffe Way Walk’, a well known five and a half mile circular walk in the surrounding countryside to the north of the Town.
Twenty people from the home took part, as well as some furry four-legged supporters too!
They raised a grand total of £473.83 which will go towards the charity group’s research, campaigns and local support services.
Nicola Wheatley, Home Manager of Rose Lodge, said: “We were delighted by the support shown for our memory walk by staff and families. Thankfully the weather was on our side and we all had a great time.”
“Dementia has affected all of our lives here in some way. It’s a cause that is close to all of our hearts at Rose Lodge and we’ve benefited from some excellent local support services and clubs targeted towards helping people living with dementia and their families. We felt it was important to give back and support the work of the Alzheimer’s Society in providing information, support and funding research on Dementia.”
Rose Lodge care home, located in Carers Way in Newton Aycliffe, provides residential care and specialist dementia care.
