These Year 5 and 6’s from Walworth Primary school have spent the last 18 weeks working with an organisation called SkillsForce to gain the Junior Princes Award.
The children had to complete a number of challenges including: team challenges, navigation, a community project, first aid and bush craft. As part of the award, children gained the Young Navigator Bronze Star Award and the Headstart Emergency Life Support Programme certificates.
Miss Vicky Bourne, one of the year six teachers involved, who is also SENCO, at the school, said, “We have seen the children’s confidence, team skills and leadership qualities grow significantly in the past 18 weeks. It has been excellent for the children in our school.”
Next year the school will be participating in the Prince William Award, a year long personal development program.
