Dear Editor,
Thank you for your support in promoting the seventh ACORN annual Petting Zoo, I can confirm that with the help of the Newton News we had our most successful event to date.
Opened by our MP Phil Wilson and sponsored by Councillors Kate Hopper and Eddy Adam the event entertained, educated and made people very happy.
As a community event the annual petting zoo enlists other organisations who are able to promote their groups to a wider public and raise funds for themselves.
This year ACORN chose to have the event on a Saturday which allowed more people to access the event. Actually 750 people came along and thoroughly enjoyed the three petting zoos, face painting, craft stall, cake stall, balloon modelling and Tombola.
I would like to thank all those volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to help us to put on these events.
The next ACORN event will be a fun day on a local green planned for August 11th. Meanwhile we have an exciting range of coach tours planned starting on 12th May with a trip to South Lakes Zoo.
If you want to be involved with our popular group we invite you to join us at our monthly meetings to help plan our programme. Meetings are held at the Phoenix Club upstairs lounge 6.00pm every second Thursday of the month.
