Last weekend saw only a few of our teams managing to play their fixtures due to the amount of water on the Oak Leaf pitches.
Newton Aycliffe U9’s Wildcats 2 – 2 Leam Rangers Green
Playing late in the thick fog on the all-weather pitch at Peterlee, made for a delicate start with a slippy surface. The girls got stuck in with lots of hard tackles against a physically strong opposition. We went a goal up, after a brilliant pass from Tilly led to a solid goal from Faith. Leam levelled soon after and the ball continued to go from end to end.
Wildcats passed brilliantly with great midfield play keeping the ball out of those danger zones. A further goal came following another inspired Tilly pass, this time to Thea who put the ball away. The remainder of the game had most chances going to Wildcats but the final score remained 2-2. Player of the Match was Anna.
Newton Aycliffe Youth U8’s Falcons 5 – 2 Darlington TSC
After a few weeks of training hard and going back to basics it paid off on the pitch today. These lads passed the ball around for fun and took the game to TSC from the 1st minute.
Eagles can now build on this and finish the season as strong as possible heading into the Summer Tournaments.
Newton Aycliffe U15 Falcons 7-1 Coulby Newham Reds
The Falcons returned back to action today after many weeks of cancellations. Cameron Jones on his Falcons debut opened the scoring with a tidy goal underneath the keeper but CNR managed to equalise before HT to make it 1-1 at the break. Second half we regrouped and I made a few changes in midfield that changed the game.
Adam Askew scored a tremendous Hat-trick with 2 spectacular goals that got a round of applause from both sides. Cameron Jones got his second with Luke Robinson getting a deserved goal. Jack Ewin rounded off the scoring by scoring a well taken 7th goal for the Falcons.
Excellent second half with Aaron Hepburn Joe Armstrong Jacob Gibson Lewis Gray holding a good back line with Dylan Burnside Jack Ewin adding support in both defence and midfield. Spencer O’Sullivan had an excellent game and our Captain led by example. Luke Robinson followed instruction and got his deserved goal.
Upfront Cole Harrison worked his socks off and provided brilliant assists but Cameron Jones on debut impressed throughout and deservedly picked up Man Of The Match. Great second half won us the points and we will have to continue that quality, determination and discipline if we want a 3rd successive promotion.
