2018 has started as well as 2017 finished with double gala success in January for Sedgefield District 75 Swimming Club (SD75SC). The first gala in Billingham on 6th and 7th January saw swimmers win a haul of medals in all events, gain several PBs and swim brilliantly after the Christmas break. The two day gala saw 9 swimmers compete and was a also a fantastic event for some of our newest competitive swimmers who also got medals and PBs.
The following weekend saw 5 swimmers compete at a higher level gala in Sunderland. Niall Coulthard swam an incredible 400m race to put him 3rd in rankings and swimming negative splits on the 50s.
Both him and Leah Smith came away with another haul of medals. Our youngest swimmers swam brilliantly Ethan Craig and Emma Price swam for the first time in a 50m pool with both swimming PBs in their races and Emma getting further times for N&D (Northumberland & Durham County competition).
The club are now focussing on N&D competitions starting the first weekend in February, this year 6 swimmers have qualified for races to be held over 2 consecutive weekends. Good luck to everyone swimming!
