The Rotary Club of Newton Aycliffe is seeking applications from teenagers who must be between the ages of 16 and 20 on 31 July 2018 to take part in an outward bound type course for potential leaders at a professionally run training centre in Teesdale. All instructors are subject to vetting procedures in line with current education authority requirements.
The aim of the course is not to teach outdoor skills but to use the outdoors to highlight the personal development and learning skills of the trainees.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) courses have run for many years and have been proven to be an excellent development opportunity for young people, much appreciated by potential employers.
Two courses are to be run in 2018, from 6th to 10th August and from 13th to 17th August 2018.
Applicants must complete an application form, available with further information from Rotarian Malcolm Masterman malcolmmasterman@me.com They will be required to undergo an interview process and to address a meeting of the Rotary Club. Applicants below 18 years old on 31 July 2018 must have parental approval. Applications must be submitted by 31 January 2018
