During the last term, young learners from Stephenson Way Academy Nursery have been developing their communication skills with Signing Tots sessions. Each sign is taught through interactive activities such as songs, puppets, stories and rhymes so children have great fun as they learn.
As well as bringing books and stories to life, Signing Tots has been proven to develop children’s speech and ease frustrations as youngsters use simple signs alongside their speech to show what they mean. Jules, who leads the sessions, told us, “The children are always so enthusiastic and enjoy playing with the props as they learn to sign, it’s wonderful to see them engage and watch their confidence grow over time.” Alongside school based sessions, Signing Tots also offer a range of parties.
