Children at St. Mary’s primary have been very busy over the last few weeks helping to support the food bank in our town. Our year 3 children decided to support our local food bank as part of their Harvest collection.
On Tuesday the 17th of October, Alison Firby and Kath Pinner came in to talk to our year 3 children about how the Food Bank started and its success in our town. The children felt very happy that there were so many kind people helping those in our town who did not have enough food to eat.
The parents of children in our school were so generous in donating lots of food for our Harvest appeal. The children had a Harvest liturgy on the Friday morning before half term when parents, grandparents and parishioners came to celebrate with us and learn a little more about what the food bank does to help others. We all learnt so much!
After half term Alison came into school to collect our food and she kindly brought us a Food collection bin, which means that our school is now officially a Food bank collection point. We are so thrilled with this. Samuel Pattison, in Year 5 kindly brought in a card and some biscuits for the staff working in the Food bank.
