Sir,
You published an editorial before Christmas and again last week informing readers of reduced opening hours at all libraries within the county as part of Durham County Council’s savings measures.
In both articles you mentioned that readers can find out the new hours by going online to the council’s website (or indeed visiting the library concerned).
As presumably 95% of your readers (who use the library) use the one in our own town centre, wouldn’t it have been a good idea to list Newton Aycliffe Library’s new opening hours to assist readers, in particular those who don’t have access to the internet?
It is perhaps ironic that many people attending our library do so to use the PCs to access the internet! For information, Newton Aycliffe Library’s new opening hours (taken from their website) are:
Monday 10.00 to 6.00pm
Tuesday 10.00 to 7.00pm
Wednesday closed all day
Thursday 10.00 to 7.00pm
Friday 10.00 to 5.00pm
Saturday 9.30 to 12.30pm
Regards
Paul Turgoose
