Durham Tigers Rugby League are about to start their pre season for the 2013 north east Rugby League season which will run from March to October.
The Tigers are inviting new-comers to the club to join them for the 2013 season. Club Secretary Phil Selby said: “We are looking to recruit players from the local and surrounding communities, from the age of 8 and upwards. Also we are introducing girl’s rugby this year so if you are interested then feel free to come along. All are welcome.”
The Tigers have close ties with the north east Rugby League scholarship scheme which aims to give talented players the chance to move into the professional game. We currently have many of our players enrolled into the scheme who are given the chance to compete with players from across the country. One of the Tigers players, Kane Young, has even been selected to play for the full English side. We also have recently restructured our training staff and provided them with the best training and support, so that Tigers players can be ensured the best quality training possible.
“If you are interested in joining us or would like more information” said Phil Selby, the Club’s Secretary “you can either like ‘We Are Durham Tigers’ on Facebook, call us on 07933 658153 or just turn up at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon at either: 6:30 on Tuesday Evenings if you are interested in our open age (16+) team or at 10 am on Saturday mornings if you are interested in our junior teams.”
