The Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Councillor Mrs. Val Raw and her Acting Mayoress for the day, her Cousin, Mrs. Carol Whitfield, were invited to visit Ineos factory site on Thursday, 20th December.
The visit was extremely educational and very interesting. This is a Company who enjoy an excellent relationship with their workforce.
During the visit the Mayor and Mayoress placed flowers on the memorial to the ‘Aycliffe Angels’ which is situated in the grounds of the factory. This was a poignant moment for the Mayor and Mayoress as Carol’s Mother, Peggy Longstaff and their Auntie Vera had worked in the munitions factory during the war.
The Mayor thanked Ineos for the upkeep of the memorial and historical buildings which was much appreciated by the Town.
The Mayor and Mayoress would like to give special thanks to Barry, Jeremy, Nora and Paul for the welcome they received on this occasion and they would like to wish Ineos every success for the future.
