Heighington School have raised money for ‘Shelter’ by wearing their slippers to School Henry Swinburne was inspired to raise money for Shelter after joining in an event in Redworth Village Hall to raise money to help the homeless at Christmas. He came up with the idea of “Wear your Slippers to School Day”, where the pupils paid a £1 donation to wear their slippers for the day. There was a trophy for the pupil who wore the most outrageous pair. Henry nominated a child from each class with great slippers and then a name was pulled out of the hat. The lucky winner was Chloe Harding who was presented with a trophy by Henry. It was a great success; £180.15 was raised and everyone had a good day. A big well done to Henry for coming up with the idea and standing up in assembly to tell the school about it. Miss Spence the Head of School said “I thought that Henry handled the whole event exceptionally well and he is a real credit to our school.”
