I remember Phil Wilson coming to see me when he first became our MP in 2007, and he told me about his pledges for our town.
• To open his office in the town centre
• To help people on the town with their problems
• Concentrate on the regeneration of the town centre
• Do all he could to bring jobs to the area
His fully staffed office is situated in the town centre and is open Monday to Friday, helping hundreds of Aycliffe people with their problems every year.
The town centre is completely transformed compared to 2007. The dismal Health Centre has gone with Aldi and Wilkinsons opening new stores. The new Library opened at the Leisure Centre just a few months ago and the town centre itself is more welcoming. As we all know, Phil played a leading role, along with the people of Aycliffe, to bring Hitachi to our Business Park creating nearly 1,000 jobs. I would like to see Phil continue his great work and will be voting to re-elect him on 8th June. I have no political bias and vote for the man not the Party. I did not vote for Tony Blair as I felt he did not represent our town. This was probably because he was PM and could not find the time to fight our corner.
