The size of the crowd around the junction of Central Avenue and St Cuthbert’s Way spoke volumes for the townspeople’s regard and respect for those who gave their lives in conflict serving our country.. It was another very well supported Remembrance Parade and the number of people who turn up to pay their respects, seems to grow, year on year. Dame Della Smith, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, led the Large Numbers at Remembrance Day Parade & Church Service wreath laying, followed by politicians, uniformed services and voluntary groups. St Clare’s Church used their church hall as overspill for the Service. “The sacrifices made by so many were remembered in a short but moving ceremony and it was an immense honour to join the Reviewing Officer, Col. Ben Banerjee, on the saluting dias” said our Mayor Jed Hillary.. A Service was held at St Andrew’s Church in the afternoon with another good turnout, especially by the Acle Scout group. “I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who took part in the town’s Remembrance Parade and attended the Services” added our Mayor Jed.
