Road resurfacing work is to be carried out in Plawsworth and Durham City.
Durham County Council is to resurface sections of the A167 in the Plawsworth area and Dragon Lane at Gilesgate in Durham, over the coming weeks.
The work on the A167 will see the closure of the southbound carriageway between the Chester Moor roundabout and the Red Lion roundabout at Plawsworth, between 7pm on Saturday, 8 October and 7pm on Sunday, 9 October. The northbound carriageway will be open as normal.
The northbound carriageway from the Pity Me roundabout to the Plawsworth Red Lion roundabout will be closed as part of the work on Sunday, 16 October between 7am and 7pm. The southbound carriageway will be open as normal.
Signposted diversions will be in place while sections of the road are closed and there will be some disruption to bus services.
The work at Dragon Lane will see a 110m stretch of the road, southbound from its junction with Sunderland Road, closed from 7am on Friday, 14 October for ten days.
A diversion route will be in place via Alma Place, McIntyre Way and Renny’s Lane.
Access to Dragon Lane will only be possible for emergency services and vehicles associated with the works.
John Reed, Durham County Council’s head of technical services, said: “These schemes are part of our ongoing programme to maintain the road network across the county, for the benefit of all users.
“We are doing all we can to minimise disruption, including some overnight and weekend resurfacing, and we thank motorists in advance for their patience while work is being done.”
