Aycliffe runners participated in the Gateshead 10k Trial Race on Saturday 13th August. Michelle Zamir was first home for the club with a time of 45.38, coming in position 174 out of 1542 runners. She was followed by Angela Barrett in 54.46 and then Susan Clarke 1.11.54. A great effort from the runners on a difficult course. Pinchinthorpe 5k trail race took place on Thursday 18 August. It was a fine but cool summer evening, ideal for running. Two runners from Aycliffe joined the field of 117 runners. Ray Todd finished 95th in 30:58, knocking 90 seconds off last years’ time. He was followed by Eve Doe who is making steady progress after being injured. She finished strongly in a time of 36:46 in 115th position. Runners also participated in the 30th Ray Harrison Memorial 10k road race in Billingham on Sunday 21 August. The course consists of a 3k loop and then a 7k loop. It was a very bright and breezy day. First back for Aycliffe was Ste Smith in 44:22 followed by Rob Young in 46:05, Trish Kay in 50:38, Angela Barrett in 52:25, Denise Evans and Heather Fenwick in 57:38, Ian Baronowski in 59:12, Chris Forster in 59:47 and Susan Clark in 63:56.
