County Councillor Mike Dixon on Wednesday 25th May, was elected Vice Chairman of Durham County Council.
Mike a retired Church of England Priest has lived in Newton Aycliffe for a number of years after serving as Vicar of Shilbottle and as a Prison Chaplain. He still acts as a locum covering for Services where a priest is unavailable.
He is married to Mary and they live in Crowley Place. Mike a jovial north easterner is a member of the town’s Rotary Club and a devoted Newcastle United fan.
We congratulate him on his appointment which puts a Newtonian in high office at the County Council Unitary Authority for the first time and subject to the elections next year he should become Chairman in 2017.
