Sisters from Newton Aycliffe are fast making their way to success with their dancing. Sisters Emilie (aged 17) and Georgia Thelwell (aged 13) who attend ‘Stepping Out with Clare Walton’ in Newton Aycliffe, attended Rising Stars Dance Convention in Washington to take part in an all-new audition style lecture day!
The convention had lecturers from the very top of their genre in dance, bringing first class training to aspiring young dancers in the area. Scouts were in attendance watching for talent from over 250 dancers.
Emilie was spotted by Ben Davies in a commercial lecture for an opportunity to win a fully paid 3 year degree course in Dance with Addict Academy in Leicester, where she had to go head to head with other spotted dancers from the lecture.
What a feeling for her when they announced her as one of the two winners and what an opportunity for Emilie’s future. This scholarship value is in excess of £20k and is the real start to professional training that Emilie needed.
Georgia (Emilie’s younger sister) was also spotted at the convention by UK Dance Elite bypassing the first stages of audition, fast tracking to regional finals. This is the second scouting for Georgia with UK Dance Elite as after a very successful time at ‘Move it 16’ the biggest event ever in London where Georgia was selected to front a new clothing label, scouted by Talent Inc UK and Matilda West End opportunities along with the rest of the school after performing improv on the main Freestyling stage at the convention.
Georgia is very excited to be performing at ‘Can You Dance’ Newcastle this Sunday 8th May after being selected last year as one of their ‘Can You Dance’ Stars. She will also be heading her way to London this summer to take her place on a fully paid scholarship place at Urdang Summer School.
Dance teacher Clare Walton, teaching team, parents and pupils are delighted for them all. “Their future is very bright and we can’t wait to see what it holds” said Clare.
