Last week Aldi fined a ‘Mobility Challenged’, 68 year old Pensioner for staying in their car park 2hrs 05mins.
Although not registered disabled the lady can only walk with 25% difficulty, unaided. She was visiting Newton Aycliffe and was penalized for wandering slowly to other retailers after shopping in Aldi.
Not only was the fine exorbitant at £70 (Reduced to £40 if paid immediately), but the cautious person paid by credit card to protect herself from fraud and was charged an additional £1.99 … at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!
If visitors need more time they are advised to use the FREE car parks nearby or shop at Tesco who are a bit more liberal with the time limit on shopping.
Many people ignore the fines imposed by Aldi who engage a private company to regulate Aldi parking and issue the fines. There is an appeal system if like some, the time you spend overruns and could not be avoided.
