The wife and family of the late Tony Dobson who died in February 2015, aged 42, are in a state of shock following the removal of memorabilia stolen from his grave.
Tony was a very keen Newcastle United fan and there were two items on his grave, a replica shirt and a “Way Aye” Man. The shirt was stolen in December and the doll around the 2nd February.
It is hard to believe anyone could be so horrible to commit such thefts from a grave, but this does happen now and again.
However just before we went to print the family informed us the doll had been returned to the grave and we can only assume the thief had a change of heart.
If you have information and know the whereabouts of the shirt or see suspicious characters in the cemetery please inform the Police on 101.
