Dear Editor,
Wow! I am blown away, and privileged to be secretary of GACAP (Great Aycliffe Community Aid Partnership), who held their first meeting of the new year at DISC next to the Blue Bridge this week.
In February last year 2015 seven partners met together and then on Monday 1st February 2016, 22 partners met to share the progress being made by the partnership, formed to help those on our town who are in need of assistance.
Three new partners joined the throng, working together to signpost people to different partners who were able to deal with people’s needs.
A call for assistance was made for a recently bereaved family who had found themselves not only in mourning, but also in desperate need.
A rally to arms had partners offering support from several groups showing the true purpose of GACAP. What is my point Mr Editor? Well it is this, the people of Newton Aycliffe are most generous and not only do they have their own needs, they are still drawn to meet the needs of others. Well done the people of our town. If you are in need of help contact: secretary.gacap@gmail.com
Anyone interested in joining GACAP all you need to do is turn up at the next meeting at 4pm on 7th March at DISC Offices by the Blue Bridge. The meeting will be an ideal forum for new members to come to the meeting as we will be holding a networking event giving all partners the opportunity to share experiences and marketing literature and help all know what other partners can bring to GACAP.
