Newton Aycliffe, County Durham- 3rd February 2016
The County Durham Spartans Baseball Club are very pleased to announce the continuing support of Calor into the 2016 season as their primary home shirt sponsor, echoing the successful partnership formed last year for the 2015 season.
Calor, the leading UK supplier of LPG offers a range of energy solutions to domestic & business properties, including the Daikin altherma hybrid heat pump which is up to 35% more efficient than a gas condensing boiler and is also eligible for the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive scheme (RHI), which could generate payments in excess of £600 per annum, for 7 years. Please visit www.calor.co.uk for more details.
Formed in 2011, the Durham Spartans (formerly Newton Aycliffe Spartans) have been competing in the British Baseball Federation’s AA league (north division) since 2012 and are still the only North East club competing.
The Spartans have developed a brand new website for this season; www.durhamspartans.co.uk which is regularly updated with photos, team news, training & game schedules, game reports, contact info and much more.
Durham Spartans are members of the British Baseball Federation. For the 2016 season, the AA North league will be split into three divisions, West, Central & East, with Hull Scorpions, Sheffield Bladerunners and Harrogate Tigers joining the Spartans in the Eastern divsion. Teams across all three divisions will play each other once too, resulting in a busy schedule, with the regular season starting on April 10th, continuing through until the end of August and the playoffs for national honours taking place in September.
Although not officially confirmed yet, it is likely the Spartans will welcome Hull Scorpions in the season opener on April 10th at their home diamond in Shildon, County Durham. Please visit the website for updates & directions.
Adult training takes place on Tuesday evenings (indoors during the winter) from 7-9 at Woodham Academy, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham (Juniors beforehand from 6-7), and on Sunday’s during the off season at their home field (weather permitting). All are welcome to come and give baseball a try.
