Leading international shower designer and manufacturer, Roman, have introduced three new apprenticeships into different departments within the company.
Roman has welcomed three new apprentices to add to the many they already have. These three new apprentices are in different areas of the business covering different skill sets, Jack Mitchell is in customer relations; Ciaran Kelly has been welcomed into joinery; and Karl Teasdale has joined the R&D department.
Roman has always supported apprenticeships, as they feel it is very important to help local young people gain the skills they need to succeed in future employment. Jack and Ciaran live in Newton Aycliffe and Karl is from Bishop Auckland, they are all 17 years old and have recently left college to pursue their chosen careers at Roman.
Over the years Roman has had many apprentices joining the company straight after school and they have stayed with Roman and risen through the ranks – many are still here today. A prime example is Alex Crawley, who joined Roman in 2001 straight after school and he is now the Manufacturing Manager, leading a team of over 60 people. There are many others well established within the business. Roman has six apprentices that have already completed their NVQ Level 3 qualification and are now working towards their HNC.
David Osborne, Managing Director of Roman, commented: “Apprentices are fundamental to our future skill requirements. A key advantage of recruiting an apprentice is their loyalty and commitment to the company. We feel very strongly about having apprenticeships as they equip our workforce with the skills needed for the future, allowing our business to grow and develop. We also want to provide young people with the opportunity to start their career, earn a wage, whilst also gaining qualifications.”
