On Friday, Phil Wilson MP for Sedgefield, visited Heighington C of E Primary School, to congratulate the talented Aimee Webster, on winning his annual Christmas card competition.
Each year, Phil chooses to showcase the artistic talent of the children in his constituencies by asking a local primary school to submit designs for his Christmas card. The winning design is then sent to hundreds of Phil’s family, friends, and colleagues, as well as businesses and organisations, across the constituency and Westminster.
As always, they level of talent was high, and Phil faced a difficult decision in choosing the winner. In the end Phil chose a design by Aimee Webster, which features on the front of his personalised card, and the designs of Hattie Raine and Ffion Lawrence-Hall which feature on the back of his card.
The cards, printed by the Newton Press, will be sent to nearly 300 people, with a further 600 people receiving an electronic copy.
Commenting on the designs Phil said “As it does every year, the Christmas card competition shows there is no shortage of talent in the constituency. Aimee’s card looks absolutely fantastic, and it is definitely a worthy winner of this year’s competition. The standards were very high and it was a very difficult decision to make. All of the children’s designs were great, and it is clear a lot of thought and work went into them.”
“I’d also like to say a big thank you to Heighington C of E School, the teachers, and all of the pupils for taking part, especially Aimee, Hattie and Ffion who have designed a fantastic Christmas card.”
