Saturday 12th September saw Aycliffe Tri Club member Richard Johnson travel to Holland to compete in the Challenge Almere Iron distance triathlon. This massive event saw Richard complete the 2.4 mile open water swim, 112 mile bike ride followed by the marathon distance of a 26.2 mile run, finishing the 140.6 mile triathlon in a fantastic time of 11hrs and 57minutes.
Richard trained hard and consistently for many months to prepare for the challenge in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society. He has so far risen over £385 for the charity and would like to thank all of the individuals who made a donation and that have supported him through his Iron journey.
