Berwick Leisure Centre was the starting point for the Borders and Bridges Sprint distance Triathlon on 6th September. Racing the 500m pool swim, 21.6k bike and 5.1k run were Andy Sedgwick, Graham Atkins and Michelle Scott (pictured). Andy was first home for the club and coming 1st in his category in 1hr 12mins.
Next home was Michelle Scott also coming 1st in her category in 1hr 17min then to complete the winning team Graham Atkins finished in 1hr 18mins with another 1st in his category.
Sunday 13th September Stokesley Leisure Centre was the venue for the Cleveland Sprint Relays. Aycliffe Tri Club entered 3 teams of 4 into the event. 1st team home was “ATC Tridents” made up of Melanie Rowland, Dan Halladay, Michelle Scott and Graham Atkins, with an overall time of 2hr 33mins giving them 1st place in their category. Next team “The Unknowns” otherwise known as Jez Ladbury, Rob Cherrie, James Wilson and Austin Donaghue finished in 2hrs 48mins coming 11th in their category.
The 3rd team “ATC Misfits” comprising of Tracey Warrior, Natalie Thompson, Mic Casey and Martin Sedgwick finished the event in 3hr 8mins giving them 6th place in their category. All competitors thoroughly enjoyed the event and will be returning next year!
A special mention must also go to Dan Halladay for the fantastic achievement coming 2nd overall in the Coniston End to End swim.
